The platform default
Novatus explicitly welcomes games developed with AI tools. AI-generated art, writing, audio, code, and gameplay systems are permitted without restriction. The platform's stance is that AI is a tool — what matters is the game, not the pipeline.
AI disclosure
Disclosure of AI use is voluntary. Developers may optionally add one or more of the following tags to their listing:
- AI: Art — visual assets generated or heavily assisted by AI
- AI: Writing — narrative, dialogue, or lore
- AI: Audio — music, sound effects, or voice
- AI: Code — game logic or tooling
- AI: Gameplay — generative or adaptive systems at runtime
A Human-Crafted badge is available for developers who want to assert no AI was used. This is self-certified.
Allowed content
- Games with AI-generated content of any kind
- Adult content (clearly labelled, age-gated to 18+)
- Free games, shareware, and demos
- Early builds with clear version labelling
Prohibited content
- Illegal content — including CSAM and content illegal in the developer's jurisdiction
- IP infringement — using assets you do not have rights to, regardless of whether they are AI-generated or human-made
- Malware — games with hidden executables or code that harms users' systems
- Asset-flip spam — submissions must include a gameplay video showing real playable content
Enforcement
All games are reviewed by a human before listing. Violations may result in de-listing and account suspension. Developers warrant that they hold rights to all submitted content.
